It’s vital to keep your water pitcher constantly clean. Water and moisture can be an incubator for icky microscopic organisms like mold and mildew, so it’s important to not let water sit still for extended periods of time or to have little crevices or lids not go uncleaned for extended periods of times. Most open container pitchers are very simple to clean.

  • GlassPlasticCeramic and Acrylic can all be tossed in the dishwasher to great effect. Some Metals (like stainless steel) can also be cleaned this way.
  • Keep in mind that GlassCeramic, and Crystal are obviously heavy, and should be handled with care and stored away from ledges and cabinet edges.
  • If you don’t have a dishwasher available, simply use dish soap and warm water with a sponge or paper towels to thoroughly wash out and wipe down your water pitcher.
  • Crystal and most Metals should be hand washed with care; they can be prone to scratches.
  • Once hand washed, Metal pitchers should be tried promptly. Metal is prone to rusting and should never be left wet for too long.
